These solid mahogany exterior doors bring back the era of Frank Lloyd Wright, where the architecture followed more distinctive straight lines and angles. This period is in contrast to the Victorian era which preceded it. Craftsman doors are also referred to as: mission style doors. Our Craftsman Style Doors mimic the Mission Style Doors commonly found in the southwest and California by the use of a minimalist approach and limited availability of building materials. Shaker Style Doors are like the Prairie Style Doors with simple design and only made for their intended uses where form follow function. The Prairie style flat panels and square dentil shelf lead you to a hand-crafted heritage of simpler times. The flat clear glass is insulated, dual glazed and tempered, whereas the Art Glass is insulated,triple glazed and tempered.

History

Born of the Arts and Crafts movement, Craftsman doors are a throwback to an era when architecture followed more distinctive lines and angles. In the late 1900's and early 20th century, these beautifully styled doors were often found in homes with exposed rafters and square wood columns. They added to the feeling of strength in the home. These doors featured a style, elegance and simplicity that was embraced then as it is now.

Some of the traditional features of a Craftsman door are the small rectangular glass panes along the top, a dentil shelf, and flat wood panels. The variations of each of these features can create a unique look for every home.
