Exterior Doors- Making the Right Choice

By the time that people have made the decision to replace an existing front door with something new, we find that they have also researched what is available locally. This is a good starting point as it gives you a comparison of various prices, qualities and materials to consider.
All of these issues are important considerations for anyone who is thinking of replacing an existing exterior door. However, keep in mind that browsing a custom door website like ours is going to provide you with more selection, more options and more quality doors than you can expect to find at any one hardware or building supply store.

You will find that at Nick’s Building Supply, Inc. we are very partial to traditional wood as the material of choice for our doors. We use the latest in technology to create durable, long lasting and energy efficient wood doors for everything from your overhead garage doors to beautiful hand carved mahogany doors that will make your entranceway truly a place of style and elegance.
There are several reasons we like to work with wood on our doors. It is natural and stains or paints well to match any color of home. Also,it is easy to care for and maintain and it is secure and durable even with heavy traffic.

There are literally hundreds of doors on our website. We feature exterior doors that are fully custom designed, which means that you can even mix and match style elements, but we also feature a great selection of Shaker, Mission, Craftsman, round top, arched and very classic and traditional styles of doors.
In addition to just the style of the door, you should also consider adding sidelights and a transom, ideal for letting in extra light and adding to the open look of any entrance.
The glass selection should also be carefully thought out as well. We offer several different styles of glass in most of our door designs. While clear is always a good choice for lots of light and a great view, Chateau glass, or other glass with caming, is very popular. Frosted, granite, Flemish, rain glass and Sierra glass offer the benefit of light with greater privacy, a great option for sidelights and larger glass on doors.
Our customers will also be asked to choose if they want a single or a double door. Double doors are a majestic look for a larger entranceway and really do add to the curb appeal of many homes, which is why they are so popular with our clients.
